South Australia Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM)

SAFECOM is established under the South Australia Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 and is administered by the SAFECOM Board.

The organisation provides corporate support services to the Country Fire Service, Metropolitan Fire Service and the State Emergency Services. It has also established the Emergency Management Office that undertakes a leadership role across government in respect of all-hazards emergency management policy.

In particular, the SAFECOM Emergency Management Office provides a lead role in the implementation of the National Strategy for Disaster Resilience. This includes working across State Government and local councils to establish integrated emergency risk management programs; contributing to national disaster resilience policy; and facilitating the implementation of national resilience initiatives in South Australia.
